The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, on Tuesday flagged off the construction of a 6.5-kilometre road project linking several communities within the council area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots infrastructure development and improved public safety.

The road project stretches from Wire and Cable, Ita Faaji through Opopin, Olunde Junction, Oganla and All Saints College Road to Akinju Close.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at Orisunbare Community, Adeojo described the project as a major milestone in fulfilling his administration’s promise to bring development closer to the people and improve their quality of life.

He said the project was designed to complement the developmental strides of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration across Oyo State.
According to the council chairman, the road would not only improve transportation but also stimulate commercial activities, reduce flooding and enhance the overall living environment of residents.
“This 6.5-kilometre road is more than asphalt and drainage. It is a road to prosperity and a solution to the long suffering of our people. When completed, it will ease transportation challenges, reduce flooding and give the community a new facelift,” Adeojo said.
He urged the contractors handling the project to maintain high construction standards and adhere strictly to the completion timeline, while appealing to residents to cooperate with the contractors and safeguard government infrastructure.
The ceremony attracted community leaders, traditional rulers, party stakeholders, market women, youth groups, local government officials and residents from the benefiting communities.
In their separate remarks, community leaders and residents lauded the council chairman for prioritising the project, noting that the road had remained a long-standing demand of the communities.
They expressed optimism that the road, upon completion, would boost economic activities, improve accessibility, and enhance the standard of living of residents.
Adeojo also expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for approving and supporting the road project, describing the governor’s backing as instrumental to its commencement.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to sustain investments in infrastructure, youth empowerment and inclusive governance across the 10 political wards of the local government.
