The rescued schoolchildren and five teachers have arrived at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, for further medical evaluation and trauma rehabilitation following their successful rescue.
Residents of Ogbomoso gathered at the entrance of the teaching hospital to welcome the returnees, expressing joy over their safe return.
The Oyo State Government had formally taken custody of the pupils and teachers rescued from their abductors in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The victims were officially handed over to the state government by the Nigerian military after completing a 48-hour period of medical observation, treatment, and psychological evaluation at the Headquarters, 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan.
Families of the victims are expected to visit the teaching hospital to reunite with and celebrate the safe return of their loved ones.
The victims were rescued by security operatives on Friday, July 10, 2026, after spending 56 days in captivity in the Old Oyo National Park.
They were abducted on May 15, 2026, in Oriire Local Government Area.
