The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo state command has paraded 25 suspected criminals including one Ismail Adeagbo, who allegedly killed his father with a rod.
According to the police spokesman in oyo state, Mr Adewale Osifeso, the alleged murder case happened at Somola in Tede, Atisbo local government area of Oyo state.
Mr Osifeso said someone reported at Tede Divisional Police Headquarters that he saw the lifeless body of one Jimoh Adeagbo with a serious mark of violence on his forehead inside his house situated in the area.
The Command’s spokesman said preliminary investigation revealed that the Suspect, Ismail Adeagbo allegedly struck his Late Father on the Head with an Iron rod where he was sleeping leading to his death.
He said the suspect confessed that his mother, Rasheedat Adeagbo was aware that he killed his father and concealed the information.
Mr Osifeso noted that all the suspects would be charged to court after proper investigations.
The suspect who voluntarily confessed to the crime said he was shocked with his own action as there were no rancor between them.
He said he regretted his action and pleaded for leniency.
On her part, the mother of the suspect, Rasheedat Adeagbo who was also paraded alongside her son said she did not conceal the act intentionally but was scared of what the Police would do to her son as his son had on many occassion witnessed her husband beating her which might be the reasons for his action.
She said she was ignorant of the law and begged the police to take pity of her son
Other suspects were also paraded for various offences ranging from armed robbery, car hijacking, kidnapping, and other criminal related offences.
Parading the suspects, the police spokesperson said the Command remained committed to the protection of lives and property of the people of Oyo State.
He said the strategic reviews and periodic restructuring of the Command’s security architecture was emplaced to tackle any emerging or evolving security challenge.
Meanwhile, Mr Osifeso expressed the Command’s displeasure over the unfortunate trend of attacks on police Officers both on and off duty, at Moniya Area leading to the death of an Inspector of Police.
He said the Command condemned the actions as barbaric without justification.
” Moving forward, the Command wishes to inform residents that in its proactive stance and with a view to unsettling hoodlums from establishing dominance at the affected areas, residents shall experience increased visibility policing and confidence building patrols to enable them go about their lawful business without fear of harassment or molestation”.
“Also, the Command wishes to commend the professionalism displayed by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council during the heat of the incident through their timely, verified and balanced reportage.”
