Customs Intercepts Fake Pharmaceutical Drugs Worth Over N500m In Saki

The Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS , has recorded another breakthrough as it intercepted fake pharmaceutical drugs with a duty paid value of over five hundred and sixty million naira among other seizures.

The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun command, Dr Ben Oramalugo who stated this at a news briefing held at the NCS headquarter, Ikolaba Ibadan noted that the seizures would save Nigerians from untimely death

While itemizing the drugs to include Analgin, Amoxicillin, Buscomac, chlomaphenicol, Amplicox, Fulcin, Rentacosun, Juscopan Arthrometer, comptroller Oramalugo cautioned Nigerians to be careful on where and how they get their drugs.

Dr. Oramalugo also said the drugs were intercepted at Saki, Oyo state while the driver arrested with the consignment have been granted bail.

Dr Oramalugo also said apart from forty nine bags of cannabis sativa worth over forty six million naira duty paid value that were also intercepted, four hundred and thirty three bags of rice, used tyres, petroleum motor spirits and used clothes were also intercepted

Receiving the pharmaceutical drugs from the NCS, the Director Southwest Zone of NAFDAC, Mrs. Roseline Ajayi said the drugs were discovered to be fake after carrying out test on them

Also, the intercepted bags of cannabis sativa were handed over to the Chief Superintendent of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Olatunji Abogunrin and he said the items would be destroyed after approval from the Federal High Court.

Recall that the Nigeria customs service had in March this year intercepted fake pharmaceutical products worth over one point seven billion naira duty paid value.
