Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has renamed the renowned The Polytechnic, Ibadan, after the former Governor of old Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo in honour of his contributions to the institution.
The governor made the announcement at the state interdenominational commendation service for late governor Victor Olunloyo who was the pioneer Principal of the institution, held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

According to Governor Makinde, the institution will now be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan

Announcing the development, Governor Makinde, described the late Olunloyo as a great mathematician, a technocrat and man with deep sense of culture.
Earlier in a sermon, former Archbishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria,Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, urged Nigerians to play their respective roles in transforming the nation.
While describing Late Dr Olunloyo as a hero and iconic personality who contributed greatly to the state inspite of his short reign in government,prayed God to raise more heroes for the betterment of Nigeria.
Bishop Ladigbolu, lauded Governor Makinde for honouring Dr. Olunloyo, during his life time and after.
Governor Makinde had earlier named airport road and Omololu Olunloyo leisure park, both at Alakia area after Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, who died on 6th April, 2025, few days to his 90th birthday.
The remains of Late Dr Olunloyo were later interred at cathedral of St. David, Kudeti, Ibadan
