A leading humanitarian and environmental organization, dedicated to transforming lives and safeguarding the planet, Box Aid Global has distributed home items to 32 organizations established to protect and ensure the welfare of children in Oyo state.
The items which include clothes, home appliances, footwears, toys among others were presented to the organizations through the Child’s Protection Network, CPN, Oyo state, targeting the main beneficiaries who are vulnerable children.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the presentation of the items, Oyo state coordinator, Child Protection Network, Dr. Rosemary Odigbo explained the story that led to the initiative.

Dr Odigbo said “So one of our members who is not based in Nigeria and founder of Box Aid Global heard a case of a young girl and she needed someone to intervene on the case in Ibadan. She started making contacts and eventually got me, and I told her we can handle the case through Child Protection Network.”
“So Ope is a special need Child, she needed help. She was in place where she was abandoned, she’s depending on people to do anything she wants to do in life. She’s just there, she messes up everywhere, except somebody feeds her, she can’t eat on her own.
“So we intervened, cleaned her up, took her to the ministry of women affairs and then, an orphanage home took her in. When we met Ope, we had to do family tracing, we got her mother who was very sick then. So CPN also intervened, we took her to the hospital, but we discovered later that she had cancer and she died last year, 2024”
“So for the founder of Box Aid Global to show appreciation to CPN, she sent these items which include clothing, shoes, televisions, phones, camera and other items to us to show”
Dr. Odigbo said twenty-nine organizations under Oyo state Child Protection Network and three orphanage homes on special request from Box Aid Global were beneficiaries of the initiative.
She urged public spirited Nigerians to emulate such gesture and provide succour to vulnerable children which she said could be done through registered bodies.
Newsarena.ng reports that the distribution of the items was witnessed by representative of the donor, the benefitting organizations and the media.
Also speaking, immediate past coordinator, Oyo state CPN, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ogedengbe, said “the support received from BoxAid started as a partnership and promise from BoxAid in 2022/2023 during our tenure when Ope who was referred by BoxAid was rescued and we are so grateful that this promise of the donation of charity items has become a reality as the first of its kind in CPN Oyo.”
Mrs Ogedengbe said “This charity donation witnessed today came with so much sacrifice and commitment from the entire management and team of BoxAid as the Director who is ever so compassionate about the plight of the underserved and vulnerable groups in our society never stopped keeping in touch with us, sending funds for case management, to support Ope and to ensure that this dream became a reality.
“It is our prayer that God would reward this show of love by BoxAid and also sustain the partnership between CPN and BoxAid so that more lives can be touched.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, the Chief Executive Officer, New Dawn Home For Orphans and Special Needs People, Mrs Funmi Alao described the gesture as a way of supporting organizations taking care of vulnerable children in the society.
While appreciating BoxAid Global for the support, Mrs Alao said the donation will go a long way in caring for the Opeyemi and other children at the orphanages.
