VIDEO: Oba Olakulehin, CCII Inspect Newly Built Olubadan Palace
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadan designate, has visited the recently constructed, ultra-modern Olubadan Palace on Thursday.
According to report, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, and other prominent Ibadan indigenes gave Oba Olakulehin a tour of the new palace.
The event came five days after Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced last week that the 43rd Olubadan-designate will take oath of office as the next Olubadan after he has sufficiently gathered strength to go through the accession procedures.
Nonetheless, at both national and international levels, the statement caused controversy among well-known Ibadan sons and daughters.
While giving the vote of thanks, Oba Olakulehin remarked, “I am really happy to be among the living to inspect this edifice. So, we must give God the glory. The people of Ibadan ought to thank God for this”

In an interview with reporters, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, the President-General of the CCII, said that “the visit to the new palace was not just a formality, but a necessary measure to ascertain the new Olubadan-designate’s medical fitness.”
“Given the magnitude of the Olubadan’s role in Ibadan society and the importance of his position to the well-being of the people, it is essential that he be in good health to carry out his duties effectively,” Chief Ajewole added.
According to the CCII President-General, the visit to the palace also served as an opportunity to congratulate the new monarch on his appointment and to express the council’s support for him.
