Oyo Govt. Records Improved IGR – Makinde

Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says the state has moved from an average Internally Generated Revenue, IGR of 4.2 Billion naira in 2023 to 4.95 billion naira in 2024.

Governor Makinde also hinted that 152.9 kilometers of raod have been completed in the last one year with a view to improve road network in the state.

The governor made these known while reading the state of the state address at a special plenary to mark the first anniversary of the 10th Oyo state house of assembly.

He highlighted some of the achievements of the first anniversary in his second term administration to include Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery, SAFER Programme, construction of roads, upgrade of healthcare centres, approval of employment for primary school teachers and the signing of executive order-1 on mining industry in Oyo state.

While restating his commitment to bridging infrastructural gap and continue to build strong institutions for sustainable growth, the governor said he has approved the implemention of thirty kilometers of roads per local government

In his speech, the speaker, Oyo state house of assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said the 10th Assembly within one year passed sixteen Bills into Law while Nine out of the bills had been assented to by the governor.

Hon. Ogundoyin said sixty-eight motions had been sponsored while thirty-five reports on oversight functions and matters referred to Committees at Plenary have been presented to the house.

“Let me state unequivocally that these outstanding records and achievements would not have been possible, if not for the unwavering supports, collaboration and commitment of my dear colleagues.

” This commitment no doubt is in tandem with my acceptance speech during our inauguration where I promised that the 10″ Assembly would work vehemently to surpass the achievements of the 5th Assembly

Some of the lawmakers who commended governor Makinde for his giant strides in the state, appealed to the state helmsman to embark on more road projects especially at the grassroots and agrarian areas.

Earlier, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola commended Makinde for the elevation of minor chiefs in Oyo town to traditional rulers status and the reopening of schools closed for over 11year calling for the employment of teachers for primary schools.

In his contributions, Hon. Peter Ojedokun representing Ibarapa Central/North urged the governor to approve a substantial rector for Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, and Oyo state College Of Education, Lanlate.
