The National Population Commission has expressed its readiness to conduct accurate trial census in Oyo state.
Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission in Oyo State, Dr Eyitayo Oyetunji gave the hint in Ibadan at the official flag-off of training for enumerators and functionaries in Ibadan.
Dr Eyitayo said the NPC has introduced new technologies such as CensusPAD and CSPro to ensure that the 2023 population and housing Census are accurate and credible.
He said a computer assisted personal interviewer (CAPI) will also be adopted for the trial census in line with international best practises.
He urged participants and functionaries to commit themselves to the training for the overall success of the exercise.
Also speaking, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters in Oyo state, Alhaji Bayo Lawal promised government’s support to the Federal Government at ensuring the conduct of a credible and reliable National Population Census next year.
He said Local Government chairmen had been informed and would also Support the enumerators that would be working in their communities.
Alhaji Lawal however assured the enumerators of adequate security and a robust provision for their welfare during the field work.
