The dream of Oyo people to have an international passport office located in the ancient community appears to have come to pass as preparations are now in top gear for its inauguration.
A visit by newsmen to the facility located at Government Reservation Area, GRA, showed that some personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service are already on ground in connection with its smooth take off.
Although none of the NIS officers volunteered information about the passport office, president, Oyo Metropolitan Development Association, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu hinted that residents would no longer travel elsewhere to obtain their international passport.
According to Archbishop Ladigbolu who is also the chairman, passport office commissioning committee, the community was ready for the inauguration once the interior minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola picks a date.
Archbishop Ladigbolu stressed that though the project was one of the legacies of late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the community sees the passport office as a welcome federal presence.
