National Open University Students Visit Orphanage Home In Ibadan

As part of the efforts towards making impact in the society and also part of the sustainable development goals ( SDGs) focusing on the community engagement and development principles, the National Open University of Nigeria has again engaged in community development in a particular course DES 303.

The project is under the introduction to community development course, which is about community service.

The project includes (1) Organising a community clean up day (2) Providing books and writing materials for primary school pupils (3) Distribution of food supplies to orphanage (4) painting and decorating the school premises.

This course is mandatory and zero credit that serves as a graduation requirement for all undergraduate students, regardless of the program of study.

Some set of students of the social science faculty, who identify themselves as Group A has done their part in carrying out their contribution to the community.

According to the students they went to an orphanage called Cheshire home along sango- eleyele road to give their donation to the orphanage.

They went with various items like, half bag of rice, 5 litres of vegetable oil, 2 packs of noodles, one pack of spaghetti etc.

The children were filled with joy and they prayed for the students.

They also added that they hope and pray to see more of this from the public and the government to make them happy.
