JUST IN: National Assembly Takes Step To Avert Nationwide Strike
The Leadership of the National Assembly and some ministers are currently meeting with the leadership of the organized labour to Avert the impending strike.
At the meeting ,the Senate president Godswill Akpabio appealed to labour to resolve the issue in the interest of the country,adding that there demands are justifiable but they should considered government pulse as well as the private sector to avoid disaster
In his remark the speaker of the house of representatives Tajudeen Abbas commended the labour for honouring their invitation but emphasized the need for strong collaboration among all the parties and arrived at a reasonable figure that would be acceptable to all parties.
Responding the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress ,Comrade Joe Ajaero told the leaders a the meeting that demands of the congress was in the interest of Nigerian workers and government must address it while the TUC president, Festus Osifo appreciated the leadership of the national Assembly for convening the emergency meeting and appealed to them to resolve the matter once and for all after about four months of negotiation .
Those at the meeting in addition to the leadership of the national Assembly are minister of information and national orientation, Alhaji Muhammed Idris,Minister of state for Agriculture and food security,Senator Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of finance and coordinating minister of economy,Wale Edun, Minister of budget and national planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu and minister of labour and Productivity ,Nkiruka Onyejeocha, SGF, George Akume and Head of service of the federation, Mrs Folashade Esan and other principal officers of both the Senate and House of representatives.
