Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Oyo state has fixed Saturday 3rd February 2024 to conduct a rerun election in two polling units in Saki West for the state house of assembly.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo state, Dr. Adeniran Tella.
According Dr. Tella, the conduct of the rerun election which is in compliance with court order, would take place in two affected polling units and registration areas.
He said the affected polling units include, Odo-osun 007 in Ogidigbo area and Ogbalanja polling unit 019 in Sepeteri/Bapon registration area.
Dr. Tella further stated that only eligible voters with permanent voters card, PVC who registered in the two affected polling units would be qualified to vote on election day, noting that biomodel accreditation system, BVAS would be deployed for the exercise.
The REC who explained that the exercise would start by 8:30 in the morning and end by 2:30 in the afternoon, said only electorate on queue on or before 2:30 in the afternoon would be allowed to vote.
He however urged participating political parties to begin campaigns immediately saying all forms of campaigns must end by 1st of February, 2024.
