The Nigerian Army has called for synergy between the military and Department of state services, DSS to collectively wage war against insecurity in the country.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army , Ibadan, Major General Obinna Onubogu made the call while receiving the State Director of Security, Department of State Services, Oyo State Command, Rasheed Adelakun, on a courtesy visit at the 2 Division Headquarters, Odogbo barracks Ojoo Ibadan.
Major General Onubogu said that collaborative efforts of security agencies should be geared towards ensuring that Nigeria remains one, united and peaceful.
Major General Onubogu, appreciated the DSS boss for the visit, noting that the synergy and cooperation from his team have remained major contributing factors to the relative calm situation in Oyo State.
He layed emphasis on the incidences of Yoruba nation agitation as well as activities of bandits within the state and environs, saying that all recorded successes were as a result of effective synergy and collaborative efforts amongst security agencies in Oyo state.
“I am really glad that you are here, as I believe that the combined and main effort of all relevant security agencies in the state is to ensure that Nigeria remains one, united and peaceful”, the GOC added.
He urged the new SDS, to bring his vast experiences to bear in Oyo State in order to ensure improved security within the state and beyond.
“On our part, we are always ready and willing to support all efforts towards ensuring that security is well improved and sustained”,
Reacting, the Oyo State DSS Boss, Rasheed Adelakun said his aim of visiting the GOC, was in line with tackling the need for improved security within and beyond Oyo State.
He expressed deep appreciation to the GOC for accepting to host him and for the warm reception given to him and his team.
The DSS boss in Oyo state said the visit was necessary, and also afforded him the opportunity to familiarise with personnel of the Division.
“I am here to reaffirm the commitment of the DSS to work closely with the NA and the military in general, in a bid to fostering effective cooperation and collaboration in areas of operations and other administrative matters”
“I am here to pledge that I will not only maintain the existing synergy and cooperation established by my predecessor; rather, I will consolidate on it reasonably.”
He added that information would be shared timely with effective cooperation and collaboration in order to foster a well secured environment, conducive enough to foster the needed atmosphere for peace, security and stability; and for improved economic growth and development in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
Principal Staff Officers of HQ 2 Division and DSS Oyo State, were all in attendance and souvenirs were shared to climax the event.
