Residents of Ayegun Oleyo ,Odo Ona Elewe area of Ibadan woke up to a brief but welcome rain shower on February 2, 2025.
The rain, which lasted only for seven minutes, started at 5:30 a.m. and was characterized by a gentle fall without any strong winds nor storms.
Similarly, residents of Iyana Church/Olodo, Idi Ishin, Mokola, Dugbe, Oluyole axis of Ibadan, Oyo State in early hours of today also experienced first rain of the year.
Though, the rain merely left spots of dust that were not fully washed from roof tops of many houses in the area, still, it brought relief to the residents.
Our Correspondent reports that, as light as the rain was, the weather became cool, indicating cold temperature within the environment, unlike what was experienced a day earlier.
While speaking, some residents said, they stepped out of their houses to allow the first rain to drop on them and prayed, describing it as a positive sign for the remaining part of the year.
They maintained that, the early morning showers of rain was a blessing that signified prosperity and relief for the people
Residents who spoke with Radio Nigeria expressed their relief and gratitude to God for the rain.
Two of them ,Mr. Victor Arowolo and Mrs. Funmilayo Olajide described the rain as a great respite from the heat and dust.
Another resident , Mr. Ademola Daniel, noted that the rain had significantly reduced the dust emanating from the ongoing road rehabilitation in the area.
The chairman of the community, Alhaji Ademola Dauda said the brief rain has brought a sense of hope and renewal to the community.
