Re-run: Hon. Folajimi Clinches PDP Ticket In Peaceful Ibadan North Bye-Election Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Federal Constituency has successfully conducted its primary election ahead of the forthcoming bye-election, producing Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DoN, as the party’s candidate.

The primaries, held on Monday at the Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat, were widely lauded for their transparency and orderliness. Delegates from all wards in the constituency participated in the exercise, casting their votes in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

The election was supervised by members of the PDP electoral committee and top state executives, including the State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, and the State Publicity Secretary and Youth Leader, Hon. Michael Ogunsina. The process was conducted under strict security, with operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies ensuring safety throughout the exercise.

Hon. Oyekunle clinched victory ahead of other aspirants, including Hon. Lanre Saraumi (Skido), Hon. Matthew, Hon. Akanbi Biiro, Hon. Taiwo Salami, and Hon. Adeyinka Kazeem (Bibire), who were all present at the venue.

The primaries drew the presence of several notable PDP stakeholders and government functionaries, including the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade; state lawmakers representing the constituency, Hon. Gabriel Babajide and Hon. Olufunke Comforter; the Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Toyin Balogun; former lawmaker, Hon. Waheed Gbede; and Hon. Demola Omotosho, among others.

Observers and party members commended the PDP for upholding internal democracy and providing a level playing field for all aspirants.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle expressed profound gratitude to the delegates and party leadership for their support. He pledged to lead a unifying, issue-based campaign that mirrors the aspirations of the people of Ibadan North.
