Six months after his suspension, Oyo State government has lifted the suspension on the Onido of Ido, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola (Gbadewolu I)
This development was disclosed to newsmen by the Executive Council Chairman, Ido local government area, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, in an announcement he made on Tuesday while presenting the reinstatement letter to the monarch.
Hon. Adeojo, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his support and belief that the traditional institution remains the backbone of any government due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
He noted that governor Makinde believes that the government, at all levels, could not afford to jeopardize the roles of traditional rulers, adding that it exists in collaboration with the government for good governance and security of communities within their domains.
He, thereafter, urged Oba Muritala Babalola (Gbadewolu I) to continue to use his kingship to promote peace in Ido local government.
Recall the state government had suspended Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola (Gbadewolu I) as the Onido of Ido in Ido Local Government Area of the State, in a letter dated 2nd of February, 2024 and signed by the the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola.
The letter indicated that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde approved the suspension on 1st of February, 2024.
