House of a former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, was on Sunday night, 5th May, 2024 gutted by fire.
According to report, the fire broke out at apartment of the second wife of the former governor, Halima.
Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, Malam Shekarau’s media adviser, confirmed the event and stated that the fire originated in the inner kitchen of the ground level of the multimillion-naira mansion on Sunday evening.
He said, “We thank God the fire only affected one of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s living rooms and already men of the State Fire Service had successfully put off the fire.”
The spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, when contacted, confirmed the incident, he however declined further comment on the cause of the inferno saying things are still being put in order.
“We are still at the house and you know I cannot comment on anything now because we are still trying to make sure that the fire didn’t spread to other places”, he added.
This is the second time the residence will be gutted by fire.
