Final Orelope 3.0 Match: Olorunsogo LG Chairman, Olayanju Set To Unveil Community Football Team, “Marble City FC”

The grand finale and final match of the 3rd edition of the Orelope football competition, organized by the executive chairman of Olorunsogo local government, Hon. Qozeem Olayanju, will hold on Friday 25th October 2024 at Ogunbode Memorial grammar school, by 3pm.

In the finals, Fortune FC will lock horns with Atlas FC while Ashfau FC takes on United FC in the 3rd place holding tomorrow, Saturday 19th October 2024.

The competition, which began a few weeks ago, following the inauguration of the Olorunsogo Football Council by the council chairman, had ten teams registered for the encounter, with more than 110 players participating.

Speaking ahead of the final match, the convener of the initiative and chairman of Olorunsogo local government council, Hon. Qozeem Olayanju, said the aim of the Orelope football Competition was to scout for talented players at the grassroots and select 22 players that will make up a football team for the council.

Hon. Olayanju said the new council team, which will be named “Marble City FC,” will represent the community in the state, national, and international football competitions.

Hon. Olayanju, who explained that all is set for the final match, said the 22 players that will make up the Marble City FC will be unveiled immediately after the Orelope final football Competition on Tuesday.

He said “One of the aims of the competition is that, after we set up Olorunsogo Football Council a few months ago, we are using the competition to select the best 22 players, that will be representing the community in the state and outside the state”

“We started putting down their names at the beginning of the competition. 10 teams registered, which means more than 110 players participated, and we’ll just pick 22 out of the players to form a team for the community,” He said.

He commended the efforts of the chairman of the Olorunsogo Football Council, Mr Sunday Olawoore (Charity), and the entire members of the council for making the competition a reality.

Hon. Olayanju said the deputy governor of Oyo state, Chief Bayo Lawal, commissioner for youths and sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, chairman agency for youth development, Hon. Adebowale Falana and Director General, of mineral development agency, Okunrin Jeje Abiodun Oni will be the guest of honor

The council chairman reiterated his commitment to boosting grassroots sports development in Olorunsogo and sustaining his passion for providing dividends of democracy to the people.

He appreciated Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for his efforts on sports and youth development, especially the state government’s investments in renovating the Lekan Salami Stadium to international standards.
