Dapo Abiodun Approves Recruitment Of Additional 1,000 Amotekun Officers

In a bid to bolster security across Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the recruitment of an additional one thousand officers into the State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps.

The governor made this announcement on Saturday during the passing-out parade of 690 newly trained Batch D officers at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu. He emphasized that the recruitment drive would not only enhance the state’s security infrastructure but also contribute to reducing unemployment.

According to Governor Abiodun, the newly recruited personnel will complement the existing force of over two thousand officers in ensuring the safety of lives and property across Ogun State. He highlighted the importance of Amotekun in addressing the country’s security challenges, noting that the corps works in collaboration with other security agencies to maintain law and order.

“The rigorous training undertaken by the Amotekun officers is a testament to their readiness and capability to tackle security challenges effectively,” the governor stated.

Governor Abiodun commended the dedication and commitment of the new officers and encouraged them to remain disciplined, vigilant, and proactive in curbing criminal activities. He urged those who were initially hesitant about joining the outfit to reconsider their stance, emphasizing that a secure environment attracts more investment and fosters economic growth.

He assured that the state government would continue to support the corps with resources, including additional patrol vehicles, motorcycles, and other necessary equipment, to enhance their operational efficiency. The governor also encouraged the Amotekun officers to build strong partnerships with local communities and traditional rulers for intelligence gathering and fostering harmonious relationships.

The governor further lauded the efforts of the Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba ,rtd, for sustaining the legacy of the late General David Akinremi, the former commander, and for advancing the corps’ operations.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his unwavering support.

He attributed the corps’ achievements to the state government’s commitment to promoting peace and reducing crime.

The commander assured the public of the corps’ determination to intensify surveillance and ensure every part of Ogun State remains safe and secure.
