Seyi Adisa Dev’t Initiative Commences iLead Leadership Training For Students In Ibadan

A leadership training program for secondary school students in Oyo state tagged “iLead Program”, an Initiative of Seyi Adisa Development Initiative, SADI has commenced in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The program launched at the University of Ibadan had in attendance students, teachers and parents of selected schools in Ibadan

The iLead program, which is a John Maxwell strategic plan, was designed to infuse new leadership values into young minds through transformative mechanisms that leads to behavioural change.

In a welcome address, program manager, iLead program initiative, Mr Ope Oyeniyi said the project which has been implemented in several countries was also tested in Afijio local government area of Oyo state, where all the 17 secondary schools in the council benefitted from the training.

Mr Oyeniyi disclosed that the iLead program, for 2024/2025 session, would be held on a weekly basis in the first, second and third terms within the premises of the selected schools.

He said the goal was to help students undergo the sixteen values of leadership, taking ownership of their choices, practicing leadership values and taking turns guiding small group discussions.

Speaking, Oyo state commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Soliu Adelabu said the collaboration between SADI and the ministry would go a long way to ensure the exposure of students to leadership styles.

Represented by Mr Tayo Stephen, the commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to partnership that would boost education standard in the state.

Earlier in an address, SADI Chairman who is a former Oyo Assembly Lawmaker, Barrister Seyi Adisa, represented by Mr Ola Jimoh said participants during the program, will engage in activities, discussions, and projects that will push them to think critically, act decisively, and lead inclusively.

Barrister Adisa who said leadership is not just about holding positions of power; but making a positive impact, driving change, and uplifting others.

Newsarena.ng reports that some of the selected schools included Bodija International school, St Louis Grammar School, St Anne’s Sec. School 2, Loyola College, Queens School, Valencia College, Yejide Grammar School, Ibadan Grammar School, St Theresa Sec. School among others.
