Ibadan: FCChallenge U16 Draw With Christo United In Thrilling Encounter

In a thrilling encounter played at the Liberty Stadium on December 21, 2023, FCChallenge U16 held Christo United to a 2-2 draw. The young Challengers, despite facing a more experienced side, showcased their talent and fighting spirit throughout the match.

The opening goal came in the 35th minute of the first half, courtesy of the young and exciting winger Jeremiah Aderibigbe. Aderibigbe, who has impressed in his recent appearances, replacing the tryout player Michael, continued his fine form with his second goal in just six matches.

The midfield duo of Mathew Ariyo and Adewale Ganiyu Ayuba played a pivotal role in orchestrating the Challengers’ attacks. Ariyo, a talented secondary school scholar, displayed his artistry with pinpoint passes that connected the midfield and forwards. Ayuba, the assisting midfielder, provided crucial link-up play, ensuring the forwards received constant supply.

At the back, Destiny Orukpe, a versatile young talent who can play in various positions, marshaled the defense with composure. However, despite his best efforts and the safe hands of goalkeeper Obafemi Faniran, the home team managed to find the equalizer in the dying minutes of the first half.

The second half saw FCChallenge continue their fight, and they were rewarded with a second goal. The Adegoroye brothers, Victor and David, who had just returned from their university studies, combined beautifully. Victor’s pacey run down the wing created space for David to finish with aplomb, marking his return to the team in style.

Despite facing a more mature and experienced side, FCChallenge U16 stood their ground, showcasing their resilience and determination. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, a testament to the young Challengers’ fighting spirit.
