A wealthy farmer identified as Sunday Togo who was reportedly abducted from his Ekeje village home in Atiba local government area of Oyo state last Thursday has been rescued unhurt by some members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN.

It was however gathered that his abductors went away with cash equivalent of ten million naira in foreign currency of a West African country.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria on the incident, state operations officer of the VGN, Oyo state command, Mr. Kola Olaoye who led the operation that kept them in the forest for a whole day and night identified lack of essential moral and logistics support as a major setback for their performance.

He maintained that their track record in combating crimes particularly kidnapping ought to have been enough reason for them to earn government backing since all these years.
The rescued farmer who thanked God and the Vigilantes for their daring efforts expressed worry over the trend of collusion between locals and criminals to wreak security havoc.
