2023: Political Parties Begin Submission Of Candidate’s Name To INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Oyo state says the conduct of political party primaries in the state for the 2023 general elections has ended yesterday 9th of June 2022.

The directive was in accordance to the electoral act 2022.

In a statement released to newsmen in Ibadan, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mutiu Agboke said all political parties are required to begin the submission of their candidates’ lists for national elections from 10th June, 2022 while submission ends on 17th June, 2022.

Barrister Agboke said list of candidates for governorship and state house of assembly positions and details of their candidates for each constituency should be uploaded to the INEC Candidates Nomination Portal, ICNP before 15th July as provided on the schedule of activities for 2023 general election.

The INEC REC stressed that only names of candidates elected from democratic primaries as stipulated in section 84 of the electoral act 2022 should be submitted to the commission, adding that names of running mates for presidential and governorship candidates should be included.
