2023: PDP G-5 Governors Keep Mum On Atiku’s Ambition As Makinde Flags Off Second Term Campaign In Ibadan

The G-5, five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have endorsed Seyi Makinde of Oyo state for reelection in the governorship election scheduled to hold on March 11, 2023.

The G-5, also known as the integrity governors, also decided to abstain from endorsing any candidate in the next presidential election on February 25, including the party’s presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar

The governors who took turn to speak at the Flag off of the second term campaign of governor Makinde in Ibadan told the mammoth crowd at the venue to vote massively for engineer Seyi Makinde, the incumbent governor of Oyo state.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, the G-5’s leader, informed party members that Makinde will subsequently inform them of the positions of the five governors on the presidential ambition of its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The announcement by Wike, it was learned, was contrary to what party members and supporters had hoped for. They had flocked in their thousands to Mapo, the venue of Makinde’s governorship election campaign flag off in Ibadan on Thursday, hoping to hear the G-5’s position on the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

In their separate responses, the G-5 Governors praised Governor Makinde for improving the state’s economy and infrastructure in order to keep his 2019 election promises to the voters.

Governor Seyi Makinde in his remarks expressed his appreciation to the people and party faithful for entrusting the destiny of the state under his care assuring them of more developmental projects and programs, if reelected for another term of four years.

Makinde, who boasted of jerking up the state’s internally generated revenue from about N1.7 billion to N3.8 billion as at November ending, 2023 among other achievements promised to do more for the people of the state.

Highlight of the event was the official presentation of PDP flag to Governor Seyi Makinde and all other candidates on the platform of the party in the forthcoming general elections.

PDP stalwarts and members of Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign organization including former Minister of state for FCT, Chief Jumoke Akinjide and other leaders from the south west zone of the party also attended the event in Ibadan.
