Nigeria’s chances of playing in the 2026 FIFA World cup have suffered a major setback after a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the ongoing qualifiers.
Going into the game after a 2-0 victory over Rwanda last week Friday, the Super Eagles dominated the early parts of the encounter, but could not find the back of the net in the first half.

It took Éric Chelle team 74 minutes before they took the lead as star striker Victor Osimhen continued his goalscoring streak as he connected superbly from a Ola Aina’s inviting low cross.
However, when it seemed Nigeria would take all 3 points, Tawanda Chirewa silenced the home fans as he equalised for the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the 90th minute to ensure the game ended 1-1
The results means Nigeria remains 4th in Group C with 7 points, while Zimbabwe are bottom of the Group with 4 points.
South Africa leads the log with 13 points followed by Rwanda with 8 points and Benin Republic in 3rd position with 8 points.
