Wife Of Oyo Assembly Speaker Counsels Women On Rights Advocacy

The wife of the Speaker of the Oyo State House, Mrs. Olamidun Ogundoyin has charged women in the state and Nigeria at large not to relent in their efforts in promoting and advocating for their rights.

Mrs. Ogundoyin gave the admonition during the celebration of maiden edition of International Women’s Day, organized by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Oyo State Chapter.

The Speaker’s wife noted that it is pertinent for women to play their roles as an integral part of the society by promoting social, political, economic, cultural and religious sectors.

Ogundoyin advised that women should not limit themselves to children making machines, rather, they should compliment their husbands to make a better society.

In her keynote address, the Clerk of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Yetunde Awe, urged the women to be prudent in the present economic situation.

While describing women as special species, Mrs. Awe charged them to at every point in time compliment the efforts of their husbands to stabilize homes.

The Clerk maintained that role of women is beyond child bearing alone, they should take care of their husbands too and make judicious use of limited resources to address the present situation.

Speaking on “The Role of Women In Time Like This”, the first female Clerk of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ms Foluke Oyediran, implored women to be morally sound and be indispensable partners to their husbands.

While urging women to equip themselves with necessary skills so as to be gainfully employed, She appealed to the relevant authorities to provide opportunities and conducive environment for women to develop themselves.

“Therefore, at a time like this, a woman should be caring and compassionate, friendly and accommodating, hard work so as to compliment her family.”

The National Women Leader of PASAN, who was represented by the Ogun State chapter, Mrs. Omokorede Koleowo, urged women to be contented, prayerful and be supportive to their husbands to be victorious over the present predicament.
