We’re Ready To Kick Start 2023 General Election – Oyo, Ekiti RECs

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has reassured Nigerians of credible and fair polls in the forthcoming general election starting next week Saturday.

Resident Electoral Commissioners In Oyo state, Dr Adeniran Tella and his Ekiti state counterpart Professor Ayobami Salami gave the assurance while speaking with newsarena.ng.

Dr. Tella who said the commission was fully ready for the elections with sensitive and non sensitive materials as well as logistics in place, noted that only eligible registrants with valid voter cards would be allowed to cast their votes.

Dr Tella also explained that sensitive materials would be activated few hours to the elections.

“I want to assure Nigerians that INEC would conduct this election in a credible manner, involving transparency, inclusiveness and acceptable one. We are prepared for the election, we have enough fuel to conduct the election” Dr Tella

Speaking on the creation of new polling units across the country, Ekiti State INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami said the development was to decongest saturated polling units to allow easy voting process.

Professor Salami said electoral officers in local governments were interfacing with the affected people at ward levels to ensure they were not de-enfranchised.

He said Nigeria has made remarkable achievements with the introduction of new technology, BVAS and IREV to be used for the exercise

The Ekiti REC also disclosed that the Electoral act 2022 has not given legal framwork for diaspora voting.
