“We Will Continue To Support You” – Ex Oyo Deputy Governor, Oladokun Declares Support For Oyo APC Peace Advocates

The Chairman of Oyo APC Elders Forum and Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oke-Ogun, Chief, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun has praised the efforts of Oyo APC Peace Advocates while also assuring that the Leadership of the Party are strongly behind them.

He made this statement while welcoming Oyo APC Peace Advocates led by its co-conveners, Chief Wale Ohu and Prince Niran Adeyoju SDM, to the Oke-Ogun zonal meeting at Igboho on Monday, the 30th of June, 2025.

Chief Ohu and Prince Adeyoju were accompanied by the following members of Oyo APC Peace Advocates: Rt. Hon. Dr. Akin Onigbinde SAN, Prince Gbade Lana, Hon. Dr. (Mrs) Peju Esan, Hon Amzat Ogunsola, Alhaji Rasak Raji, Engr. Wale Adeoye, Alhaji Adebayo Aruna and Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete.

Chief Oladokun who is a former deputy governor in the state said that the Leadership of Oyo APC is aware of the time, energy and resources which the Group have been deploying to preach the message of peace and unity within the Party and told the meeting that the Group had made several efforts to meet with Party Leaders, critical Stakeholders and officers within and outside Oyo state.

He told the Group that all the Local Governments of Oke-Ogun and the two zones ,1 and 2 were adequately represented at the gathering.

Chief Oladokun urged the Peace Advocates to go ahead with the plans and programs which they had discussed with the Elders Forum but which they have not made public.

Chief Wale Ohu addressed the Oke-Ogun zonal meeting on behalf of Oyo APC Peace Advocates.

He thanked the Leaders, Party officials and critical Stakeholders of Oke-Ogun for the warm reception and noted that the sitting at Igboho signifies that there is peace within the Party in Oke-Ogun.

He said that if Oyo APC approached the 2023 gubernatorial election as one united Party, there was no way we would have lost to the PDP.

He went further to say that having identified the fact that the Party’s failures in 2023 was brought about by lack of unity and fractionalization , Oyo APC Peace Advocates have taken it upon themselves to ensure that such ugly and unfortunate circumstances are not repeated in 2027.

He re-emphasized the fact that members of Oyo APC Peace Advocates have no interest in any aspirant and neither does any of its members have any ambition to contest for any position.

He said the processes of selecting candidates in 2023 was also an issue which the Group has identified and promised that, with the support of all, the Group will work towards ensuring that the processes that will throw up Party officials and candidates for 2027 shall be free, fair and transparent.

He drew attention to the experience at Edo state where the National headquarters of the Party had to bend to the wishes of the generalities of the Party and in the end, the Party was able to defeat the ruling Party in the state.

He said if the processes that threw up the current Governor of Edo state, H. E Monday Okpebolo were not free and fair, stakeholders within Edo APC wouldn’t have found it easy to rally behind the candidate and APC would have lost.

He emphasized that the gubernatorial primary in Edo had to be repeated to accommodate the wishes of Party faithfuls and that is exactly what Oyo APC Peace Advocates is preaching and working towards in Oyo state.

He reminded the meeting that, though , it is our wish to win in 2027 but we have to work hard for it and learn from the Edo state example.

He concluded by saying that the Group is also working to ensure that external influences will not jeopardize the process of peace and unity within the Party.

The following Party Leaders were present to receive the Peace Advocates: Chief Barrister Iyiola Oladokun, H. E Chief Alake Adeyemo, H. E Eng. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Baba Abu Gbadamosi and Pa. Oyetunji.

All members of the Oyo state House of Assembly elected under the platform of the Party, all state Party officers from Oke-Ogun, Party Chairmen and selected stakeholders were also present.
