“We Want Projects That Will Stand The Test Of Time” – Group Tells Makinde

A call has gone to the governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde to ensure good quality in the ongoing infrastructure projects across the state.

Good Legacy, a socio-political group, made this call in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Akinosun Bankole and secretary, Jide Gbolagade on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Giving the hurriedly completed Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba which was flooded on the day of commissioning as an example, the group tasked the Governor to ensure the ongoing reconstruction and repair of roads in Ibadan metropolis stands a test of time.

The group also gave the Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso which was barricaded for heavy duty motors adding that if the road was properly constructed according to standard, there would be no need to restrict certain vehicles from using the road.

Good Legacy In Oyo called on relevant government agencies both in the state and federal to ensure contractors do their work as stipulated in the contract terms for the people of Oyo state to enjoy the usage.

The statement read in part: “The people of Oyo State deserve more than just commissioned projects; we want projects that will stand the test of time,” said Akinosun Bankole, Chairman of Good Legacy In Oyo, in a statement jointly signed with Secretary Jide Gbolagade on Monday in Ibadan.

“The Lekan Salami Stadium debacle is a stark reminder that speed should not compromise quality.

“Another example is the Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso road, which was barricaded to heavy-duty motors. If done right, our roads should be able to accommodate all vehicles, not just select ones.”
