VIDEO: Suspected Thugs Attack Oyo Guber Candidate’s Convoy, Three Arrested

In Tede, Atisbo local government Area of Oke Ogun, thugs believed to be affiliated with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) attacked Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s campaign team on Wednesday. Chief Adelabu is the Accord’s candidate for governor.

Before more harm could be done to the convoy, men from the Nigerian Police and private security guards in the governorship candidate’s entourage quickly intervened and arrested three of the accused thugs who claimed to be All Progressive Congress (APC) agents. However, throughout the attacks, a number of vehicles were still destroyed.

The Accord governorship candidate had earlier in the week warned of opposition political groups’ intentions to target the Accord candidates in the State. In the run-up to the general election, Chief Adelabu had advised rival candidates to center their campaigns on issues rather than turn the State into a battlefield.

Five other campaign vehicles, including the Range Rover Spot of well-known Yoruba movie actor and producer Mr. Soji Taiwo, better known by his stage name “Ose Ose Omo Banke,” were also destroyed in the attack. Two of Chief Adelabu’s personal vehicles were also destroyed.

Reacting to the incident, the Campaign organisation noted that the opposition APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have become uncomfortable and are threatened by the rising profile of Accord and its governorship candidate who continues to garner overwhelming support as he continues his State-wide consultation.
