What was supposed to be a peaceful rally at gate area of ibadan ,the Oyo State capital but turned out to be a violent one following attacks on some commercial banks at the area.
A witness that spoke with radio Nigeria explained that the protest started around 11:00 this morning with some Youths calling on the Federal government to find a lasting solution to crisis that erupted from the re-signing of some currency notes and lingering fuel crisis.
The Protesters majorly youths armed with weapons also gained entrance into the Oyo state Secretariat .
It was also gathered that a police officer that tried to prevent them from entering the governor’s office was attacked and rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
As at the time of this report, Agodi police post have been set on fire while some commercial banks have been vandalized.
It was gathered that some bank officials appealed to the protesters giving them undisclosed amount of money.
The police and army officers that were strategically positioned to prevent breakdown of law and order allegedly fled from the scene.
The Oyo state police public relations officer Adéwálé Oshifeso said he would brief the media after authenticating the information.
