The Faozey Agenda: Changing The Narrative In Oyo Central Senatorial District

From time immemorial, most especially since the advent of this present democracy, Oyo central senatorial district has been tactically coloured in the toga of a third world country (senatorial district) by being disdainfully referred to partly when describing the Ibadan zone of the district comprising of 5 local governments namely Egbeda, Ona Ara, Lagelu, Akinyele and Oluyole as less city.

The Ogbomoso zone made up of Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local governments is no less in the same category as they also fall in the same category of their Ibadan counterpart as the two local governments from the Ogbomoso zone of the senatorial district are in the outskirt of Ogbomoso-land forming the border between Oyo state and Iwo/Ejigbo axis of Osun state.

The third zone of the senatorial district is Oyo zone, which without mincing words, is more or less undermined by the other senatorial districts who believe they have higher advantage of population, land mass and national prominence than Oyo central senatorial district.

This demeaning adjective synonymous with the Oyo central senatorial district of the state is borne out of the fact that despite the efforts of successive governments in the state at improving the lot of the people of the Senatorial district in terms of providing infrastructure and other social amenities, such effort have yield next to nothing as the lot of the common man on the street of the eleven local governments making up the senatorial district remain unchanged.

As at the last count, four distinguished sons and daughter of the soil have been fortunate to represent the senatorial district at the National assembly namely Senator, now Oba Mohood Lekan Balogun, Sen. Teslim Kolawole Folarin, Sen. Ayoade Adeseun and Sen. Monsurat Sumonu.
