Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, University College Hospital UCH, Ibadan, has suspended its five day strike
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the president of the Association, Dr. John Oladapo and General Secretary, Dr Ajibola.
The statement says the five-day industrial action was as a result of assault on a senior registrar at the Emergency department of the hospital.
It notes that the attention of the management had been drawn to the manpower shortage in the hospital which was affecting its members.
Dr. Oladapo however called on people to desist from assaulting health workers, saying aggrieved patients and their relatives should Channel their grievances to the appropriate medium for proper redress.
He noted that attack on resident doctors at the hospital would no longer be condoled as anyone caught would be prosecuted.
Dr. Oladapo advised people to advocate for more employment of health workers to meet the demands of the growing population.
