Tinubu Appoints First Female NEMA DG, Others
Zubaida Umar has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, by President Bola Tinubu.
As the agency’s first female director general, Mrs. Umar’s nomination confirms the President’s declared commitment to gender inclusiveness.
The nomination of retired Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa to the position of Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education has also been approved.
The President has also approved the appointment of Alhaji Tijani Hashim Abbas as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Chieftaincy Matters.
General Ja’afar Isa is a respected leader and was the Military Administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996, while Alhaji Tijani Hashim Abbas is the Sarkin Sudan Kano.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said the President anticipates that the new appointees will bring their vast experience into efforts to make an impact on the well-being of Nigerians.
