Efforts of members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN to rid forests in Atisbo and Itesiwaju local government areas of kidnappers have yielded positive results again following the rescue of two Fulani brothers abducted three days ago.
Abubakar Waragon and Aruna Waragon who are children of a popular Fulani trader in Itesiwaju local government area were rescued from a forest near Owo (d.r) town in Atisbo local government area but the suspected kidnappers managed to escape.
Confirming the rescue operation, Oyo state commander, VGN, Comrade Sunday Olajide explained that a locally made rifle and three Tecno phones with their sim cards recovered from the suspects have been handed over to the police at Otu Divisional Police headquarters.
Comrade Olajide who said his men were on the trail of the fleeing criminals said there would be no hiding place for them and others in the forests, even as Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter, Alhaji Yakubu pledged the cooperation of the indigenous Fulanis with the vigilantes and government security agents in their efforts to flush out criminal elements in the area.
Meanwhile, efforts ongoing to have Otu Divisional Police headquarters comment on the incident.
