S’West Conf. Of Speakers Visits Oyo Assembly, Advocates Regional Legislative Integration

Chairman, Southwest conference of speakers Mr. Adeoye Aribasoye has Called for the advancement of regional legislative integration and multilevel policing in the Southwest in view of the recurring cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, assassination and other crimes in the region.

Rt Hon Aribasoye made the call when he led a delegation of the southwest speakers on a visit to the speaker of Oyo state, Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin who is also the Chairman, Conference of State Legislatures of Nigeria, in Ibadan

Rt Hon. Aribasoye who doubles as the Ekiti State assembly speaker stressed the need for a meeting of all State lawmakers in the Southwest to allow for synergy, collaboration and cross fertilization of legislative ideas among others.

He explained that Oyo state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has graciously approved the hosting of the meeting of all State lawmakers in the Southwest in Oyo State to kickstart the process of Legislative regional integration.

In a brief remarks, the host, chairman, conference of speakers of Legislature In Nigeria, and Oyo speaker, Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin commended the delegation for the visit and described It as a viable way of promoting and strengthening the Legislative institution in the SouthWest

Our correspondent reports that the delegation also used opportunity of the visit to commiserate with the Oyo State Governor and by extension the people of Oyo State on the unfortunate explosion of Tuesday, 16th January, 2024 which rocked Bodija area of Ibadan.

On the entourage of the delegation were Speakers of Ondo and Osun States, Rt. Hon Olamide Oladiji Adesanmi and Rt. Hon Adewale Olumide Egbedun, majority and minority leaders from the three State Assemblies as well as other members.
