Some suspected kidnappers reportedly neutralized by vigilantes are now on the run after allegedly abducting some people and raping their wives at a settlement in Igboho, Orelope local government area of Oyo state.
According to the commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Oyo state command, Comrade Sunday Olajide, his men were quickly mobilized after the incident was reported to him.
“A fierce gun duel with the suspected kidnappers was recorded, resulting in the death of four of the suspects and recovery of one Ak 47 rifle in the midnight operation.
Comrade Olajide who spoke with Radio Nigeria correspondent said the midnight operation was not alien to his men, hence the advantage over the suspects.
The VGN commander urged government to support the vigilante group.
He said the bodies of the suspects including the gun recovered from them have been handled over to Igboho Divisional Police headquarters.
