Thirty youths in grassroots communities within Afijio local government area of Oyo state have benefitted from a free skill empowerment training under the Seyi Adisa Development Initiative, SADI.
The empowerment programme which was in partnership with The Oguntoyinbo Foundation was aimed at providing entrepreneurship capacity for youths in Afijio to address the growing rate of unemployment and quest for white collar jobs.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the opening of the training held at SADI Technical and Vocational Training Hub in Awe, SADI’s Community Manager, Mr Ola Wasiu said the initiative was a consolidation of past youths empowerment programmes from SADI, in fulfilment of its mission to equip young people with essential skills for economic independence.
Speaking on the overview of the project and its implementation plan, SADI’s Program Manager Miss Adelayo Adeyemo said the first phase of the vocational training would include coding as well Cakes and Confectioneries
Miss Adeyemo said beyond technical skills, participants will also learn digital marketing, financial literacy, and mental health capacity building.
She added that the coding program, tagged “Girls Can Code,” was aimed at encouraging more females to explore tech, while the male participants also actively engage in the exercise.
She said “Participants will enjoy light refreshments and receive daily transportation allowances, further easing their training experience. The trainees should remain focused and leverage on the expertise of their instructors.”
Earlier, while declaring the training opened, the founder, Seyi Adisa Development Initiative and former lawmaker in the Oyo state house of Assembly, Hon. Seyi Adisa represented by Mr. Ope Oyeniyi, the administration and resource manager, encouraged participants to use the opportunity to gain valuable skills and turn them into economic security.
In their separate remarks, stakeholders at the event commended the initiative, urging beneficiaries to make the most of the rare opportunity.
The stakeholders who expressed their sincere appreciation to the organizers for their unwavering commitment to youth development at the grassroots, applauded Hon. Seyi Adisa for his dedication to community growth.
Our correspondent reports that some of the Instructors including Mr. Ibukun (EFDI) and Ms. Rachael Eluyemi of Raynbow Cakes & More, shared their personal journeys into entrepreneurship underscoring the global potential of tech and confectioneries skills, encouraging participants to commit fully, identifying the significant investment made to ensure the program’s success.
