The Reinstated local government chairmen in Osun State have ordered an immediate freeze of council accounts, following their formal return to office.
The Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Mr. Abiodun Idowu who spoke on behalf of others, stated this while addressing Newsmen in Osogbo.

Mr. Idowu cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke and officials managing council resources to desist from any financial transactions.
Mr. Idowu “Any form of illegal transaction will have consequences,”
He lauded President Bola Tinubu for upholding the rule of law and praised security agencies for their professionalism in handling the situation.
Mr. Idowu reassured residents of the State that local governance would prioritise grassroots development.
The Chairman also mourned the killing of Late Mr Remi Abass, chairman of Irewole Local Government, who was attacked by suspected political assailants last Monday.
“Having returned to office, we reaffirm our commitment to serving our people,” “Our goal is to create jobs and wealth for the youth, ensure food security through mechanised farming, and address shortages in education and healthcare sectors.” Mr. Idowu explains further
He announced plans to reabsorb 1,500 teachers and 2,000 health workers recruited under the previous APC government but dismissed under Adeleke’s administration. “Since their salaries are drawn from local government allocations, reinstating them will not hinder governance,” he explained.
The chairmen pledged to collaborate with the state government for the benefit of Osun residents while urging communities to support their leadership.
Mr. Idowu called on security agencies to investigate the attack and arrest those responsible for the killings. “We appeal to the Nigerian Police and security agencies to fish out the killers of Hon. Remi Abass and others,” he urged.
He accused Senator Oyewumi of inciting violence, referencing past incidents of political attacks linked to him. “The killing of our Ward Treasurer in Ikire last year has also been reportedly linked to him,” Idowu claimed.
However, Security Operatives including the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force were still on ground to monitor the situation at the Council areas across the State.
