After defeating Brazil 1–0 in their final group encounter, Cameroon became the first ever African nation to defeat the South American team at a World Cup competition.
The lone goal of the game was scored by captain Vincent Aboubakar in the 92nd minute, however it was insufficient to advance them to the round of 16.
Despite losing, Brazil won Group G and joined Switzerland, which defeated Serbia 3-2 to take second place, in making it to the round of 16.
Earlier, Portugal and South Korea also booked their place in the next round, while Uruguay and Ghana crashed out.
The round of 16 fixtures begin today Saturday with Netherlands taking on USA, while Argentina face Australia.
