The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a forty-three-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for the alleged murder of his elder brother in the Sepeteri area of the state.

The tragic incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, reportedly stemmed from a bizarre dispute involving a dream.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the case was brought to light by one Badmus Yunisa of the Alegunlode Compound.

The report states that the suspect, Lateef, approached his fifty-two-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, while he was quietly seated and struck him on the head with a heavy rock before fleeing the scene.
In a chilling revelation following his arrest, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming he attacked his brother in self-defense.
Lateef told investigators that his elder brother had “shot him in a dream,” and he believed the physical attack was necessary to stop the spiritual threat.
Efforts to save the victim proved futile as Mustapha Amidu was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the attack, where medical personnel later confirmed him dead.
The suspect is currently in custody and is said to be cooperating with authorities as they piece together the events leading to the fatal blow.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Femi Haruna, has expressed concern over the incident and ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
