Shina Peller Hails IGP Tunji Disu’s Appointment

Hon. Shina Peller, the Ayedero of Yorubaland and former member of the House of Representatives, has formally congratulated the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Ridwan Disu, describing his emergence as a transformative milestone for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

In a detailed congratulatory message shared with journalists on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Hon. Peller emphasized that IGP Disu’s appointment comes at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s history, signaling a shift toward modern, intelligence-led policing and institutional integrity.

Peller, a prominent advocate for youth inclusion and national security reform, noted that the choice of IGP Disu reflects a deliberate move by the current administration to prioritize technical expertise and a proven track record of excellence.

“Your well-known record of accountability and professionalism truly reflects the spirit of a New Era in the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read. “Having you at the helm at this time reassures many that a new standard of discipline, transparency, and excellence is not only possible but achievable.”

IGP Disu, who was recently ratified by the Nigeria Police Council and has served in various high-pressure roles—including Commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT)—is widely regarded as a “scholar-policeman.” Peller highlighted these qualifications as the bedrock for the reforms Nigerians are eager to see.

He expressed confidence that Disu’s deep operational experience in both Lagos and the FCT equips him with the unique perspective needed to navigate Nigeria’s complex internal security landscape.

“I wish you strength, divine guidance, and outstanding success in this new chapter of service, Egbon mi (my elder brother). Amen,” Peller concluded.
