PHOTOS: Reps’ Member, Olajide “Odidiomo” Facilitates ICT Training, Presents Laptops To 40 Constituents

IBADAN – In a bid to bridge the digital divide and promote technological advancement in Nigeria, an ICT training programme facilitated by Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, Chairman, House of Representatives committee on Digital and Information Technology, was held on Wednesday 3rd July, 2024 in Ibadan.

With a vision to empower participants with cutting-edge skills in computer basics, software applications, internet browsing, and productivity software, the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) partnered with Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency of Oyo state is to train the first batch of 40 participants selected for the training programme.

Declaring the training session open, Hon. Adedeji Olajide, represented by his Senior Legislative Assistant, Hon. Kunle Folarin, emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world.

According to him, “This training is designed to empower my constituents with the skills required to compete in the global digital economy.”

“My vision is to ensure that my constituents are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in this digital age.”

“We want to create a generation of digitally literate Nigerian youths who can leverage technology to improve their lives and contribute to the country’s economic growth.”

Hon. Olajide further explained that the training program is tailored to meet the needs of various groups, including students, entrepreneurs, and civil servants.

“We want to ensure that everyone has access to this opportunity, regardless of their background or profession.

Our goal is to create a digitally inclusive society where everyone can participate and benefit from the digital economy.”

He also announced plans to establish digital hubs in various locations across the constituency, where participants can access resources, mentorship, and support to further develop their skills.

Hon Olajide also stressed that information technology has the potential to drive economic growth, improve lives and address some of the country’s most pressing challenges also expressed plans by him to create a sustainable ecosystem that will support the growth of digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation.

Participants were later presented with brand new HP laptops and certificate of participation.
