Following several allegations of extortion, some commercial drivers have allegedly attacked the Chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System, OSTMS, Mr. Wakili Nurudeen in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.
The aggrieved commercial drivers, including some executive officers of the transport management system, allegedly ambushed Mr. Nurudeen at Oke-Baale area of Osogbo and inflicted injuries on his neck and hand.
As a result, there was pandemonium at the Transport Management System Secretariat, major parks in Osogbo including Oke-Baale, Ilesa- Garage, Sadiat and Oke-Ayepe as gunshots rented the air and residents ran for their safety.
It was gathered that the disgruntled drivers had earlier staged a peaceful protest around Olaiya area of Osogbo demanding the removal of Mr. Nurudeen as Chairman for allegedly using Governor Adeleke’s name to extort them of over N1.6 million and which was later embezzled by him.
The protesters also accused him of high-handedness and threatening of members who dared to oppose his misconducts.
Denying the allegations in an interview with Newsmen, the chairman, Osun State Transport Management System Mr. Nurudeen, who has been hospitalized after the attack, said the irate Park members had hated him since NURTW was abolished in the state and replaced with Park Management System.
