Oyo State CPN Less-City Celebrates Public Primary School Pupils On Children’s Day.

Some primary school pupils in Ibadan have appealed to government to give more attention to the education sector.
The pupils who were drawn from public primary schools around Olodo, Ibadan spoke with Newsarena.ng at an event organized by the Child Protection Network, Ibadan Less city, to commemorate the 2022 Children’s day.
Children’s day is celebrated on the 27th of May, every year to raise awareness on the plight of children and possible ways of addressing various levels of abuses against them.
The children used the occasion of the day to appealed to government to fight corruption to a standstill, noting that the menace of corruption is detrimental to the future of the country and the lives of many  Nigerian children.
In their separate remarks, some Stakeholders at the event also gave passionate appeal to government at all levels and relevant agencies not to pay lip service to the welfare of every Nigerian child.
Oyo state coordinator, Child’s Protection Network Mrs Oluwatoyin Ogedengbe said laws for the welfare and protection of children will remain ineffective if government fails to implement them.
Mrs Ogedengbe who commended the Oyo state government for the establishment of family court, said more still needed to be done for them.
CPN area coordinator, Ibadan less city Mrs Chinyere Adeyemo called for awareness on relevant laws that protects the rights of children.
Mrs Adeyemo explained that the children that lacks proper care might turn out to be liability and criminal in the society.
A lecturer at the University of Ibadan, Dr Oluwakemi  Aremu decried the poor state of education and infrastructural decay in primary schools, calling for safe environment for children to thrive.
Also speaking on the day, Headmaster, I.D.C basic school, Ibadan, Mr Olaolu Adegoke challenged teachers, parents and guidance to re double their efforts at raising children in a conducive environment.
Newsarena.ng report that the CPN less city chapter donated uniform to the pupils and provide free health care service in commemoration of the day.
