The Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to the Executive Arm to put measures in place to urgently renovate and rehabilitate Cultural Centre Mokola, Ibadan in order to restore it’s lost glory .
This followed the adopting of resolutions in a motion moved by member representing Ibadan north constituency 2, Adebayo Babajide during plenary presided over by the speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin.
Honorable Babajide in the motion expressed displeasure at the dilapidated condition of the historical facility, adding that the Centre is now a shadow of itself, and all overgrown with weeds and bushes
While emphasizing on the economic importance of the structure to the development of Ibadan and Oyo state at large, he stressed the need for the Oyo state Government to look deeper by working towards generating more Internally Generated Revenue from the culture and tourism sector.
Contributing, lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North state constituency, Mrs Olubisi Oluranti said the centre if properly harnessed would provide more employment opportunities for youths in the state.
In the same vein, The house passed the Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency Bill 2024 into law after scaling through the third reading stage.
