Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly who represents Ogo-oluwa/Surulere, has officially joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, the majority leader of the House, and other lawmakers welcomed Hon. Oyeleke, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, into the PDP, the party in power in Oyo State.
During the brief ceremony, the People’s Democratic Party, or PDP, flag was given to Hon. Oyeleke.
In his defection letter read by the Clerk, Mrs Oludara Awe, Hon Oyeleke said he left his former political party, APC because of some unresolvable internal wranglings.
The letter read in part ” APC in Oyo State has failed to uphold the tenets of democracy especially as it relates to justice and equity in its dealings with party faithful. I can’t continue to be in a party that does not value my interest and that of my supporters. The PDP has shown great potentials in Oyo State and it remains the party to beat at all levels in 2023.”
The defection letter also stated that Hon. Oyeleke had joined the PDP along with thousands of his supporters in politics.
The lawmaker was warmly welcomed by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, who also praised his determination to join the PDP in Oyo State.
Asimiyu Alarape, the Minority Leader of the House, expressed his condolences for the defection while pointing out that politics has always involved crisis management.
Anybody can feel resentful, which is nothing new in politics. Nonetheless, we wish you well, ” Hon. Alarape said.
