Oyo state house of assembly has stressed the need for the executive arm to immortalize the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun
The house during a special Yoruba plenary presided over by the speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said Oba Balogun was a respected politician, scholar and custodian of culture who had made his footprint on the sand of time.
The house described the late Olubadan of Ibadanland as a first class monarch whose reign was impactful and peaceful.
Presenting a motion on the need to immortalize Oba Balogun, lawmaker representing Ibadan North East Constituency 2, Hon. Abiodun Babalola said Oba Balogun has made history and would never be forgotten.
While contributing, other lawmakers, including Mrs Comforter Olajide, Mr. Gabriel Babajide and Mr Sunkanmi Babalola commiserated with the immediate family of the late monarch, the Olubadan in Council, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes as well as sons and daughters of Ibadan land.
Also during the plenary, the house stressed the need for the executive to provide more support for farmers in the state as the planting season sets in, so as to ensure abundant food supply in Oyo State
Similarly, the lawmakers, following a motion brought before the house by Mr. Gbenga Oyekola, Atiba state constituency, also appealed to the executive to empower Local Government authorities to enable them embark on rehabilitation of bad roads in their local councils
