Oyo state house of assembly has screened and confirmed the nomination of five out of seven Commissioner nominees sent to the house by governor Seyi Makinde.
Governor Makinde had last week sent a letter to the assembly requesting the screening and approval of first batch of Commissioner nominees.
The five nominees that were appeared and confirmed during plenary on Tuesday were former commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof Daud Sangodoyin; Former commissioner for women affairs, Alhaja Joke Sanni, Former commissioner for Energy, Barrister Seun Ashamu, ex finance commissioner, Mr Akinola Ojo and Former commissioner in charge of commerce, trade and investment, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi.
Our Correspondent reports that two remaining commissioner nominees from the list earlier sent by the governor did not appear for the screening
In their separate remarks, some of the lawmakers commended governor Makinde for his resolve to present capable nominees who will steer the affairs of ministries in the state.
They however tasked the commissioner designates to prioritize people centred policies, road rehabilitation and revenue generation.
Speaking on behalf of the commissioner designates shortly after the confirmation, Professor Daud Sangodoyin promised more collaborative engagement and determination at ensuring the success of the new administration.
